Artist's Comments
This is the antagonist of my story, Acvelyen, or Vavre as he sometimes calls himself. This sculpture is air-dried clay painted with water-based paint. I also added gloss varnish to the eyes and scales as well as metalic paint to his larger scales.
One might notice similarities between Vavre and Aychthaen and that is simply because of evolution. They were once part of the same species ages ago, but after a schism within their realm, the environment changed them. Vavre is a Viennon, a winged creature with a venemous tallon on either hand. The Malroths on the other hand are completely different in build and facial features ... but I shouldn't go into greater detail than that. By the way this is an original sculpture.  I really like the pose you gave him, makes him look all mysterious and such. I also love all the thought and background you give your characters. He's a villain? No wonder I like this sculpture so damn much x.x... I dunno, I always find his expression is so sad, slightly bitter and disgusted, but more sad. He needs a hug ... but I'm sure he's rip me to shreds ... that or he'd simply scratch me enough with those claws so that I die a horrifyingly painful, venomous death .... ... I'm sorry, I can't offer any advanced critique ....... Awe thanks. Your overview is dead-on by the way. He is technically the antagonist, but that does not mean he is a villain. Think of him as an old bitter widower who is also the last of his kind. And we all know what revenge will do to a man, especially when it is left to fester for two thousand years. So he's basically a good man(or Viennon) who lost his family and wants justice.
And its funny you think he needs a hug. In the version I am writing at the moment, at the end of the whole story he finally gets one. He hugs the dying main character, then kills himself once he realizes what he has done to the world. Thanks again! -- My voice will whisper through infinity, but my name will echo in eternity. I love how every piece of yours has a story. I just shove random things together and make people hunt for their own meaning. I really need to keep on writing the actual STORY though. I'm not that far into it, but I am satisfied with the style at least.
And I have read your writing ... I think it's great the way it is! -- My voice will whisper through infinity, but my name will echo in eternity.  I really like the texture you used on his wings, they look very leathery, which is what I'm assuming you were going for. I also like your idea of a separation of the race resulting in different evolutionary paths.
